Household consumption decreased in July
Statistical news from Statistics Sweden 2020-09-10 9.30
Household consumption decreased by 3.7 percent in July, compared with July 2019 measured in fixed prices and working day adjusted figures. In the last three-month period, consumption decreased by 6.7 percent in fixed prices and working day adjusted figures, compared with the same period a year ago. Household consumption increased by 3.0 percent in seasonally adjusted figures compared with June.
The largest weighted negative contribution came from the sector Transport and retail sales and service of motor vehicles, which decreased by 12.6 percent in fixed prices compared with July a year ago.
Housing, electricity, gas and heating accounted for the largest weighted positive contribution to total consumption and increased by 1.3 percent in fixed prices compared with July a year ago.
Prices increased by 1.2 percent according to the consumption deflator.
Note: Due to the uncertainty of the long-term effects of the corona pandemic, the trend series is not considered to be reliable. Therefore, the publication of trend series for the periods January 2020 and onward is cancelled until further notice.
