Exports and imports of goods, November 2022, in current prices and in constant prices

Higher prices continue to drive up the value of trade in goods

In November 2022, exports of goods increased by 19 percent in value and by 1 percent in volume compared with the same period a year ago. At the same time, imports of goods rose by 23 percent in value while it decreased by 2 percent in volume.

"The imports of mineral fuels and electric current has a continuously strong increase in both value and volume terms, compared with the same period last year", says Kajsa Krol Brevinge, statistician at Statistics Sweden

Compared with the previous month, Swedish exports of goods increased by 4 percent value and by 3 percent in volume. At the same time Swedish imports of goods increased by 1 percent in value while it remained unchanged in terms of volume. The number of weekdays in November 2022 was the same as in October 2022.

Exports of chemicals and rubber products increased by 33 percent in value and by 19 percent in volume, compared with the same period last year. Compared with the previous month, exports of chemicals and rubber products increased by 10 percent in both value and in volume. Within this product area, exports of pharmaceuticals products increased by 45 percent in value and by 38 percent in volume. Compared with the previous month, imports of pharmaceuticals products increased by 11 percent in both value and in volume.

Exports of mineral fuels and electric current increased by 67 percent in value and by 9 percent in volume compared with the same period last year. The large difference between the value and volume trends is due to higher prices on petroleum products in November 2022. Compared with the previous month, exports of mineral fuels and electric current increased by 18 percent in value and by 10 percent in volume.

Exports of wood and paper products increased by 22 percent in value and by 13 percent in volume compared with the same period last year. Within this product area, exports of pulp and waste paper increased by 59 percent in value and by 20 percent in volume. Compared with the previous month, exports of pulp and waste paper increased by 24 percent in value and by 27 percent in volume.

Imports of chemicals and rubber products increased by 23 percent in value and by 1 percent in volume compared with the same period last year. Within this product area, imports of pharmaceuticals products increased by 26 percent in value and by 13 percent in volume. Compared with the previous month, imports of pharmaceuticals products decreased by 14 percent in value and by 11 percent in volume.

Imports of mineral fuels and electric current increased by 118 percent in value and by 43 percent in volume compared with the same period last year. The large difference between the value and volume trends is due to higher prices on crude petroleum oils and petroleum products in November 2022. Compared with the previous month, imports of mineral fuels and electric current increased by 33 percent in value and by 43 percent in volume.

Imports of other products increased by 12 percent in value while they decreased by 9 percent in volume. Within this product area imports of food/beverages/tobacco increased by 22 percent in value while they decreased by 3 percent in volume. Compared with the previous month both value and volume remained unchanged.
