Swedens population 2012:

One in five asylum seekers came from Syria

Roughly 103 000 persons immigrated to Sweden last year; 43 887 persons also sought asylum in Sweden. Among the asylum seekers, 37 percent were women and 63 percent were men. Compared to the year before, this is an increase of 48 percent, or 14 239 persons. Citizens from Syria comprise the largest single group of asylum seekers with 7 814 persons, which is twelve times more than the year before.
