Decreased liability in debt securities

Borrowing of debt securities decreased by SEK 54 billion in March and amounted to SEK 7 778 billion at the end of the month. Total borrowing consisted mainly of bonds valued at SEK 6 644 billion, up by SEK 51 billion compared with the previous month.
At the end of March, borrowing in bonds represented 85 percent of total borrowing in debt securities. This borrowing is mainly issued by the bank and housing credit institutions sector, which amounted to a total value of SEK 3 610 billion.
At the end of March, total borrowing in money market instruments amounted to SEK 1 134 billion, down by SEK 105 billion from the previous month. The decrease was largely based on money market instruments denominated in Swedish kronor, which decreased by SEK 97 billion. Money market instruments denominated in Swedish kronor decreased by SEK 100 billion in the central government and other money market financial institutions sectors.
In the non-financial and other financial sector, total borrowing increased by SEK 29 billion from the previous month and amounted to SEK 1 360 billion at the end of the month. This increase is based on bonds valued at SEK 26 billion, largely due to an increase of SEK 19 billion in bonds denominated in foreign currency.
In the housing sector, which has only issued bonds, total borrowing decreased by SEK 18 billion from the previous month and amounted to SEK 1 850 billion at the end of the month.
Structure of maturity
Debt securities valued at SEK 534 billion in total will reach maturity in April. This maturity value is based on money market instruments valued at SEK 475 billion and bonds valued at SEK 58 billion. The maturity value for money market instruments is largely based on securities denominated in Swedish kronor and for bonds, the maturity value is largely based on securities denominated in foreign currencies.
