The inflation rate according to the CPI with a fixed interest rate (CPIF) was 2.0 percent in March 2018, up from 1.7 percent in February 2018. The CPIF increased by 0.3 percent from February to March. In the corresponding period last year, the CPIF was unchanged. The inflation rate according to the CPI was 1.9 percent in March 2018.
The increase in the CPI from February to March 2018 was mainly due to a rise in prices on clothing (2.3 percent), electricity (2.6 percent), transport services (0.5 percent) and television, film and music services (13.8 percent), which contributed upwards by 0.1 percentage point each.
These increases were offset by lower prices on books (-35.1 percent), which affected the CPI by 0.1 percentage point downward.
The CPI for March 2018 was 325.76 (1980=100).
The inflation rate according to the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) was 2.0 percent in March 2018, up from 1.6 percent in February. The HICP increased by 0.3 percent from February to March. In the corresponding period last year, the HICP was unchanged.
