The Producer Price Index, that is, producer prices on the domestic and export markets together, increased by 9.3 percent from August 2017 to August 2018. In the same period, prices increased by 12.3 percent on the import market and by 12.0 percent on the export market.

During the past year, higher crude oil prices have affected the import price index upwards, the annual change in crude oil prices in August was 51.1 percent. The annual percentage change in electricity prices on the export market amounted to 77.7 percent.

Domestic supply prices have increased by 9.6 percent on an annual basis. On the domestic market, prices have increased by 6.9 percent.

Changes during the last month

Continued increases in electricity prices contributed to the increase on the export market. On the other hand, the upturn was slightly counteracted by lower prices for waste collection, treatment and disposal services and basic precious and other non-ferrous metals.

Lower prices of crude oil, as well as for computers and peripheral equipment, contributed to the decrease of the import price index during the last month. The decline was slightly offset by higher prices for chemicals and chemical products.
