Service prices rose during fourth quarter

The Service Producer Price Index increased by 0.5 percent from the third to the fourth quarter of 2016. The corresponding change in the previous quarter was a decrease of 0.1 percent. Since the fourth quarter of 2015, the Service Producer Price Index has increased by 0.9 percent. The corresponding annual rate in the previous quarter was an upturn of 0.3 percent.
Higher prices for Computer programming, consultancy and related services was the main contributor to the quarterly upturn of 0.3 percentage points. Higher prices for Sea and coastal freight water transport services, Other transportation support services, Architectural and engineering services and related technical consulting services and Rental and leasing services of machinery each contributed 0.1 percentage points to an upturn. Lower prices for Real estate services and Other software publishing services counteracted the upturn by 0.1 percentage points each.
