Statistics show which names newborns were given and which first names, first names normally used and last names the population has. Name statistics are based on information about people registered in the Population Register submitted by the Swedish Tax Agency to Statistics Sweden.

Statistics Sweden will stop producing name statistics as of 2024. The reason for this is that Statistics Sweden will prioritize the production of other statistics.

In addition, the 2022 entire population name statistics will only be published under the “Name Search” option on our website. This means that the tables under "All registered persons in Sweden" will not be updated on this site.

Alice and Noah keep their first places as the most popular names for newborn girls and boys in 2021. Alice tops the list for the sixth year running, while Noah tops the list for the second consecutive year.
