Accessibility statement

This website is run by Statistics Sweden. We want as many people as possible to be able to use it. This page will tell you how accessible the web site is and what we are doing to improve accessibility.

This accessibility statement applies to the Statistics Sweden website, www.scb.se.

How accessible this website is

We know some parts of the Statistics Sweden website are not fully accessible:

  • A majority of the charts are presented as images only and may lack or have non descriptive alternativ texts.
  • Some of our charts use colors with insufficient contrast.
  • Some tables do not have row headers.
  • File names are often not easy to read or understand.
  • Some content on the website is available only in PDF format, and is often not fully optimised for accessibility.
  • Most of our older statistics consists of PDFs with scans of old publications and contains only images.
  • Some parts of the website contains code that is not structured to properly support screen readers
  • Some Excel documents may not be fully accessible and may be difficult to use with screen readers and keyboard-only navigation.
  • The navigation is not be consistent throughout the website.

How to request content in an accessible format

If you need information from the our website in a different format, please contact us and tell us:

  • the web address (URL) of the content
  • your name and email address
  • the format you want

We will reply within five days to let you know when we will be able to provide the information. We will consider each request but may not be able to provide an alternative accessible format on every occasion.

What we are doing to improve accessibility

We are working to resolve the issues identified in this accessibility statement. Our goal is to have resolved all issues that are possible to resolve through better code and design before september 2023. We are working contiously to better our content both as web pages and PDFs.

Preparation of this accessibility statement

We prepared this statement September 2020. The web team carried out manual and automated tests on representative parts of the website.
