In May 2025, Swedish exports of goods amounted to SEK 169.6 billion, while imports of goods amounted to SEK 165.7 billion. As a result, the net trade balance was SEK 3.9 billion.
Foreign trade in goods resulted in a net trade surplus of SEK 3.9 billion in May 2025, according to preliminary calculations. In May 2024, there was a net trade surplus of SEK 10.6 billion.
The value of exports in May 2025 was SEK 169.6 billion, while imports were valued at SEK 165.7 billion. The corresponding values for May 2024 were SEK 187.6 billion for exports and SEK 177.0 billion for imports. Exports of goods have decreased by 10 percent and imports of goods have decreased by 6 percent compared with May 2024. The number of weekdays in May 2025 was one less compared with May 2024.
Trade in goods with countries outside the EU resulted in a surplus of SEK 24.6 billion, while EU trade resulted in a deficit of SEK 20.7 billion.

Seasonally adjusted, net trade showed a surplus of SEK 8.2 billion in May, compared with a surplus of SEK 7.8 billion in April. The corresponding figure for March was a surplus of SEK 7.3 billion.
Net trade (January – May 2025) showed a surplus of SEK 48.1 billion
During the last five months, the value of both exports of goods and imports of goods decreased by 1 percent compared with the corresponding period a year ago. Exports were valued at SEK 881.4 billion and imports were valued at SEK 833.3 billion. The net trade for January – May 2025 thus resulted in a surplus of SEK 48.1 billion. The corresponding net trade balance for these months one year earlier was a surplus of SEK 47.7 billion.
