Net trade balance at SEK -7.3 billion in April

In April 2026, Swedish exports of goods amounted to SEK 183.5 billion, and imports of goods amounted to SEK 190.8 billion. As a result, the net trade balance was SEK -7.3 billion.
Foreign trade in goods resulted in a net trade deficit of SEK 7.3 billion in April 2026, according to preliminary calculations. In April 2025, there was a net trade surplus of SEK 5.3 billion.
The value of exports in April 2026 was SEK 183.5 billion, and imports were valued at SEK 190.8 billion. The corresponding values for April 2025 were SEK 169.8 billion for exports and SEK 164.5 billion for imports. Exports of goods have thus increased by 8 percent in value and imports have increased by 16 percent in value compared with April 2025. The number of weekdays in April 2026 was the same as it was in April 2025.
Trade in goods with countries outside the EU resulted in a surplus of SEK 20.1 billion, while EU trade resulted in a deficit of SEK 27.4 billion.
Seasonally adjusted, net trade showed a deficit of SEK 2.9 billion in April, compared with a deficit of SEK 1.4 billion in March. The corresponding figure for February was a surplus of SEK 0.3 billion.

Net trade (January – April 2026) showed a surplus of SEK 5.7 billion
During the last four months, the value of exports of goods remained the same while the value of imports of goods increased by 4 percent compared with the corresponding period a year ago. Exports were valued at SEK 702.8 billion and imports were valued at SEK 697.1 billion. The net trade for January – April 2026 thus resulted in a surplus of SEK 5.7 billion. The corresponding net trade balance for these months one year earlier was a surplus of SEK 36.2 billion.
