Net trade balance at SEK 6.2 billion in December

In December 2024, Swedish exports of goods amounted to SEK 158.7 billion, while imports of goods amounted to SEK 152.5 billion. As a result, the net trade balance was SEK 6.2 billion.
Foreign trade in goods resulted in a net trade surplus of SEK 6.2 billion in December 2024, according to preliminary calculations. In December 2023, there was a net trade surplus of SEK 1.3 billion.
The value of exports in December 2024 was SEK 158.7 billion, while imports were valued at SEK 152.5 billion. The corresponding values for December 2023 were SEK 159.8 billion for exports and SEK 158.5 billion for imports. Exports of goods have thus decreased by 1 percent in value, and imports have decreased by 4 percent in value compared with December 2023. The number of weekdays in December 2024 was one less compared with December 2023.
Trade in goods with countries outside the EU resulted in a surplus of SEK 27.1 billion, while EU trade resulted in a deficit of SEK 20.9 billion.

Seasonally adjusted, net trade showed a surplus of SEK 4.1 billion in December, compared with a surplus of SEK 2.7 billion in November. The corresponding figure for October was a surplus of SEK 2.0 billion.
Net trade (January – December 2024) showed a surplus of SEK 67.5 billion
In 2024, the value of exports of goods decreased by 2 percent and the value of imports of goods decreased by 3 percent compared with the corresponding period a year ago. Exports were valued at SEK 2056.0 billion and imports were valued at SEK 1988.5 billion. The net trade for 2024 thus resulted in a surplus of SEK 67.5 billion. For 2023, a surplus of SEK 45.9 billion was noted.
