Net trade balance at SEK 1.0 billion in February

In February 2022, Swedish exports of goods amounted to SEK 150.6 billion, while imports of goods amounted to SEK 149.6 billion. As a result, the net trade balance was SEK 1.0 billion.
Foreign trade in goods resulted in a net trade surplus of SEK 1.0 billion in February 2022, according to preliminary calculations. In February 2021, there was a net trade surplus of SEK 5.4 billion.
The value of exports in February 2022 was SEK 150.6 billion, while imports were valued at SEK 149.6 billion. The corresponding values for February 2021 were SEK 123.5 billion for exports and SEK 118.1 billion for imports. Exports of goods have thus increased by 22 percent in value, and imports increased by 27 percent in value compared with February 2021. The number of weekdays in February 2022 was the same as in February 2021.
Trade in goods with countries outside the EU resulted in a surplus of SEK 17.2 billion, while EU trade resulted in a deficit of SEK 16.2 billion. As from February 2020, the United Kingdom no longer forms part of the group EU Member States and is included, instead, in the group Non-EU Member States.

Seasonally adjusted, net trade showed a deficit of SEK 2.9 billion in February, compared with a deficit of SEK 1.3 billion in January. The corresponding figure for December was a surplus of SEK 0.5 billion.
Net trade (Dec 2021 – Feb 2022) showed a deficit of SEK 5.5 billion
During this period, the value of exports of goods increased by 23 percent, and the value of imports of goods increased by 28 percent compared with the corresponding period one year ago. Exports were valued at SEK 439.6 billion and imports were valued at SEK 445.1 billion, resulting in a net trade deficit of SEK 5.5 billion for December 2021 - February 2022. The corresponding net trade balance for these months one year earlier was a surplus of SEK 10.8 billion.
