Net trade balance at SEK 15.1 billion in January

In January 2025, Swedish exports of goods amounted to SEK 180.9 billion, while imports of goods amounted to SEK 165.8 billion. As a result, the net trade balance was SEK 15.1 billion.
Foreign trade in goods resulted in a net trade surplus of SEK 15.1 billion in January 2025, according to preliminary calculations. In January 2024, there was a net trade surplus of SEK 12.7 billion.
The value of exports in January 2025 was SEK 180.9 billion, while imports were valued at SEK 165.8 billion. The corresponding values for January 2024 were SEK 167.8 billion for exports and SEK 155.1 billion for imports. Exports of goods have thus increased by 8 percent in value, and imports have increased by 7 percent in value compared with January 2024. The number of weekdays in January 2025 was one less compared with January 2024.
Trade in goods with countries outside the EU resulted in a surplus of SEK 23.0 billion, while EU trade resulted in a deficit of SEK 7.9 billion.

Seasonally adjusted, net trade showed a surplus of SEK 6.6 billion in January, compared with a surplus of SEK 5.4 billion in December. The corresponding figure for November was a surplus of SEK 4.2 billion.
Net trade (November 2024 – January 2025) showed a surplus of SEK 29.7 billion
During the last three months, the value of exports of goods increased by 2 percent and the value of imports of goods increased by 1 percent compared with the corresponding period a year ago. Exports were valued at SEK 526.7 billion and imports were valued at SEK 497.0 billion. The net trade for November 2024 – January 2025 thus resulted in a surplus of SEK 29.7 billion. The corresponding net trade balance for these months one year earlier was a surplus of SEK 24.4 billion was noted.
