Net trade balance at SEK 6.9 billion in March

In March 2023, Swedish exports of goods amounted to SEK 193.8 billion, while imports of goods amounted to SEK 186.9 billion. As a result, the net trade balance was SEK 6.9 billion.
Foreign trade in goods resulted in a net trade surplus of SEK 6.9 billion in March 2023, according to preliminary calculations. In March 2022, there was a net trade surplus of SEK 4.2 billion.
The value of exports in March 2023 was SEK 193.8 billion, while imports were valued at SEK 186.9 billion. The corresponding values for March 2022 were SEK 183.9 billion for exports and SEK 179.7 billion for imports. Exports of goods have thus increased by 5 percent in value, and imports have increased by 4 percent in value compared with March 2022. The number of weekdays in March 2023 was the same as in March 2022.
Trade in goods with countries outside the EU resulted in a surplus of SEK 27.6 billion, while EU trade resulted in a deficit of SEK 20.7 billion.

Seasonally adjusted, net trade showed a surplus of SEK 1.8 billion in March, compared with a surplus of SEK 1.9 billion in February. The corresponding figure for January was a surplus of SEK 1.5 billion.
Net trade (January – March 2023) showed a surplus of SEK 20.0 billion
During the last three months, the value of exports of goods increased by 12 percent and the value of imports of goods increased by 9 percent compared with the corresponding period a year ago. Exports were valued at SEK 535.3 billion and imports were valued at SEK 515.3 billion, resulting in a net trade surplus of SEK 20.0 billion for January - March 2023. The corresponding net trade balance for these months one year earlier was a surplus of SEK 4.1 billion.
