Net trade balance at SEK 4.8 billion in March

In March 2024, Swedish exports of goods amounted to SEK 176.2 billion, while imports of goods amounted to SEK 171.4 billion. As a result, the net trade balance was SEK 4.8 billion.
Foreign trade in goods resulted in a net trade surplus of SEK 4.8 billion in March 2024, according to preliminary calculations. In March 2023, there was a net trade surplus of SEK 10.6 billion.
The value of exports in March 2024 was SEK 176.2 billion, while imports were valued at SEK 171.4 billion. The corresponding values for March 2023 were SEK 197.4 billion for exports and SEK 186.8 billion for imports. Exports of goods have thus decreased by 11 percent in value and imports decreases by 8 percent compared with March 2023.
The number of weekdays in March 2024 were three less compared with March 2023.
Trade in goods with countries outside the EU resulted in a surplus of SEK 23.0 billion, while EU trade resulted in a deficit of SEK 18.2 billion.

Seasonally adjusted, net trade showed a surplus of SEK 3.4 billion in March, compared with a surplus of SEK 4.0 billion in February. The corresponding figure for January was a surplus of SEK 5.5 billion.
Net trade (January – March 2024) showed a surplus of SEK 28.7 billion
During the last three months, the value of both exports and imports of goods decreased by 5 percent compared with the corresponding period a year ago. Exports were valued at SEK 516.3 billion and imports were valued at SEK 487.6 billion, resulting in a net trade surplus of SEK 28,7 billion for January - March 2024. The corresponding net trade balance for these months one year earlier was a surplus of SEK 27.6 billion.
