Net trade balance at SEK 9.3 billion in March

In March 2026, Swedish exports of goods amounted to SEK 195.1 billion, and imports of goods amounted to SEK 185.8 billion. As a result, the net trade balance was SEK 9.3 billion.
Foreign trade in goods resulted in a net trade surplus of SEK 9.3 billion in March 2026, according to preliminary calculations. In March 2025, there was a net trade surplus of SEK 10.9 billion.
The value of exports in March 2026 was SEK 195.1 billion, and imports were valued at SEK 185.8 billion. The corresponding values for March 2025 were SEK 186.5 billion for exports and SEK 175.6 billion for imports. Exports of goods have thus increased by 5 percent in value and imports have increased by 6 percent in value compared with March 2025. The number of weekdays in March 2026 was one more compared with March 2025.
Trade in goods with countries outside the EU resulted in a surplus of SEK 26.2 billion, while EU trade resulted in a deficit of SEK 16.9 billion.
Seasonally adjusted, net trade showed a deficit of SEK 0.5 billion in March, compared with a surplus of SEK 0.3 billion in February. The corresponding figure for January was a surplus of SEK 1.5 billion.

Net trade (January – March 2026) showed a surplus of SEK 16.4 billion
During the last three months, the value of exports of goods decreased by 3 percent while the value of imports of goods remained the same compared with the corresponding period a year ago. Exports were valued at SEK 518.6 billion and imports were valued at SEK 502.2 billion. The net trade for January – March 2026 thus resulted in a surplus of SEK 16.4 billion. The corresponding net trade balance for these months one year earlier was a surplus of SEK 30.9 billion.
