Net trade balance at SEK 0.8 billion in September

In September 2024, Swedish exports of goods amounted to SEK 169.0 billion, while imports of goods amounted to SEK 168.2 billion. As a result, the net trade balance was SEK 0.8 billion.
Foreign trade in goods resulted in a net trade surplus of SEK 0.8 billion in September 2024, according to preliminary calculations. In September 2023, there was a net trade surplus of SEK 2.3 billion.
The value of exports in September 2024 was SEK 169.0 billion, while imports were valued at SEK 168.2 billion. The corresponding values for September 2023 were SEK 185.1 billion for exports and SEK 182.8 billion for imports. Exports of goods have thus decreased by 9 percent in value, and imports have decreased by 8 percent in value compared with September 2023. The number of weekdays in September 2024 was the same as it was in September 2023.
Trade in goods with countries outside the EU resulted in a surplus of SEK 24.9 billion, while EU trade resulted in a deficit of SEK 24.1 billion.

Seasonally adjusted, net trade showed a surplus of SEK 3.3 billion in September, compared with a surplus of SEK 4.2 billion in August. The corresponding figure for July was a surplus of SEK 5.2 billion.
Net trade (January – September 2024) showed a surplus of SEK 54.2 billion
During the last nine months, the value of exports of goods decreased by 1 percent and the value of imports of goods decreased by 3 percent compared with the corresponding period a year ago. Exports were valued at SEK 1531.1 billion and imports were valued at SEK 1476.9 billion, resulting in a net trade surplus of SEK 54.2 billion for January - September 2024. The corresponding net trade balance for these months one year earlier was a surplus of SEK 27.1 billion.
