Strong willingness to invest amongst the industrial enterprises

Accordning to Statistics Sweden’s October survey the industrial enterprises report a forecast of 69.2 billion SEK (in current prices) for 2017, which is an increase with 2 percent. In 2018 the investments in the industrial sector continues to increase accordning to the industrial enterprises, the forecast for 2018 is 70.1 billions.

The industrial enterprises collective October forecast is 800 millions lower than they reported in Statistics Sweden’s May survey. The manufacturing industry’s (C) forecast for 2017 is an downward revision of about SEK 500 million compared with the forecast in the May survey. The mining industry (B) revised its forecast downwards for 2017 by about SEK 300 million. The volume remains unchanged.

The Engergy sector is on fire

The Energy sector is expected to increase investmenst with 17 percent in 2017 which indicates an investment of 42.8 billions. The volume change is 13 percent. By no means the sector will lower the investments 2018. The sector reports a forecast of 47.5 billions in 2018.

The real estate industry will slow down its pace in 2018

2017 is expected to be a record year when it comes to investments in buildings according to property management (SNI 68 excl. 68.204). Investments is expected to increase with 8 percent in 2017 which leads to investments of 110 billions. Volume change 2017 is expected to be 7 percent. In 2018 the investments is expected to turn downwards and land on 106 billions which indicates a decrease by 4 percent.

Definitions and explanations

The population frame is collected from Statistics Sweden's Business Register database. All enterprises with at least 200 employees are included, while enterprises with between 20 and 199 employees are sampled. Enterprises in the industry sector with between 10 and 19 employees are taxed based on investment information from enterprises with between 20 and 49 employees. In some activities, enterprises with between 5 and 199 employees are sampled.

Volume is defined as the change in percentage between two years, calculated in 2008 monetary value.

In this survey, investment refers to the acquisition of tangible assets with an estimated life of at least one year, as well as reconstruction and improvement work that materially raises capacity, standards and life-length.
