The level of education in Sweden has increased significantly over the past 35 years. In the early 1990s, one-third of the population aged 25–64 had at most a primary or lower secondary education, and only one in ten had a longer post-secondary education. Today, the situation is reversed. Around 10 percent have a primary or lower secondary education as their highest level, while just over 30 percent have at least three years of post-secondary education.
