Investment assets comprise the largest part of the balance sheet total of life insurance companies, and contributed SEK 49 billion to the increase. At the end of the year investment assets were valued at SEK 2 302 billion.

Results of life insurance companies, that is, results from insurance operations, amounted to SEK 132 billion in 2015. This can be compared with 2014 when results amounted to SEK 85 billion. Net premiums written amounted to SEK 112 billion at the end of 2015; this is an increase of SEK 2 billion compared with 2014.

Premiums and assets of non-life insurance companies

The national non-life insurance companies' net premiums written amounted to SEK 55 billion at the end of 2015. This is a decrease of SEK 6 billion compared with 2014 when net premiums written amounted to SEK 62 billion.

The total assets of national non-life insurance companies were SEK 459 billion, down SEK 54 billion compared to 2014. Results amounted to minus SEK 5 billion, which can be compared with the result of minus SEK 10 billion last year.

The larger local non-life insurance companies reported net premiums written of almost SEK 19 billion in 2015. The balance sheet total was SEK 101 billion, compared with 2014 when the balance sheet total was SEK 95 billion. Results from insurance operations amounted to SEK 636 million, a decrease of SEK 181 million compared with 2014.
