Nearly a 14 percent increase in the assets of life insurance and occupational pension companies

The assets of life insurance and occupational pension companies were valued at SEK 7,125 billion at the end of 2024, an increase of 13.5 percent compared to 2023.
This is a larger increase than the previous year, which was 8.5%. Total sum of assets has surpassed the previous peak from 2021. Subtotal for life assurance business also increased from 2023 to 2024. For 2024, the technical result amounts to SEK 310 billion, compared to SEK 196 billion in 2023. However, it remains lower than in 2021, when it reached SEK 586 billion.
Non-life insurance companies
Total assets of non-life insurance companies increased for the second consecutive year from 2023 to 2024, following a decline from 2021 to 2022. This applies to both nation-wide companies and major local companies. Together, nation-wide and major local companies saw an increase in total assets from SEK 807 billion to SEK 844 billion, corresponding to 4.6%.
Among Swedish non-life insurance companies with total balance sheet total exceeding SEK 1 billion, the largest relative increase in premiums written was for discharge insurance, +39%. The largest relative decrease was for employers no-fault insurance, -33%.
