In the third quarter of 2021, the market value of insurance companies’ investment assets rose to SEK 6 415 billion. This can be compared with SEK 6 327 billion at the end of the previous quarter, and SEK 5 489 billion at the end of the third quarter of 2020.
The third quarter in brief
- In the third quarter, the relative increase, 1.4 percent, in the insurance companies’ total investment assets, was the lowest increase since the first quarter of 2020, when it was -7 percent.
- Holdings in shares and participations was the type of asset with the largest value increase during the quarter, at SEK 65 billion.
Life insurance companies
- Life insurance companies’ investment assets amounted to SEK 5 752 billion at the end of the third quarter, up by SEK 98 billion compared with the previous quarter.
- Net transactions in capital investments amounted to SEK 24 billion during the quarter.
Non-life insurance companies
- Non-life insurance companies’ investment assets amounted to SEK 662 billion at the end of the third quarter, down by SEK 10 billion compared with the previous quarter.
- Net investments by these companies amounted to SEK -14 billion in the quarter.
