Statistical news from Statistics Sweden 2019-12-17 9.30

Total Swedish liability in debt securities amounted to SEK 7 829 billion at the end of November, a decrease of SEK 23 billion on October. The decrease is primarily due to a smaller debt stock in securities denominated in euros and US dollars.

The total debt stock for debt securities denominated in euros amounted to SEK 1 872 billion at the end of November, which is a decrease of SEK 15 billion from the previous month. However, securities denominated in euros noted a net increase of SEK 26 billion in November. This means that the diminished total debt stock was a result of the effect of the exchange rate.

Securities denominated in US dollars recorded a net decrease of SEK 18 billion in November, while the remaining SEK 8 billion were the result of a stronger Swedish krona against the US dollar.

Borrowing in bonds has increased

Within bonds, Swedish liability in debt securities amounted to SEK 6 691 billion at the end of November, an increase of SEK 16 billion from October. This increase was primarily due to an increase of SEK 38 billion in borrowing in bonds denominated in Swedish kronor.

With regard to bonds denominated in euros, total borrowing decreased by SEK 31 billion. However, bonds denominated in euros recorded a net increase of SEK 6 billion in November, in which the difference is due to the effect of the exchange rate.
