Following poor performance in the third quarter and an economic downturn in Europe, Sweden’s GDP saw an unexpectedly sharp increase in the fourth quarter. The increase of 1.2 percent in seasonally adjusted figures is mainly due to strong exports, in which exports of goods experienced the largest increase in several years. At the same time, there was broad-based growth, with increases in several areas of the economy.
