Changes in the last month

The monthly rate of change was positive on the export and import markets, but negative on the domestic market in February. This resulted in an unchanged monthly rate of change for Producer Price Index but a positive monthly rate of change for Price Index for Domestic Supply during the same period.

The largest negative contribution on the domestic market came from lower prices on trade services of electricity and district heating. This downturn was offset by higher prices on refined petroleum products, food products, electrical equipment, other machinery and equipment, waste collection, treatment and disposal- and materials recovery services and paper and paper products.

On the export market the main upward contribution came from higher prices on refined petroleum products. Prices also rose in motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers, basic chemicals, paper and paper products, other machinery and equipment, computer, electronic and optical products, electrical equipment, basic precious and other non-ferrous metals and food products. This upturn was offset by lower prices on generation of electricity and basic iron and steel.

The main contribution to the increase on the import market came from higher prices on crude oil. Prices also rose in other machinery and equipment, computer, electronic and optical products, basic chemicals, basic iron and steel, electrical equipment, food products, motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers and other outerwear. This upturn was offset by price decreases on refined petroleum products and generation of electricity.

Correction of the statistics

Product group 10.83 was incorrectly marked as confidential in January for all markets, which has now been corrected and the index numbers are now available again in our Statistical database. We have also made a smaller correction of the indices in connection to this. It is mainly product group 10 and 10.8, regarding Producer Price Index (PPI) and Price Index for Domestic Supply (ITPI), that is affected by this correction.

Definitions and explanations
