Higher annual rate on the domestic market in November 2019

The Producer Price Index increased by 0.3 percent between October and November 2019. In the same period, prices on the import market increased by 0.3 percent, while prices on the export market decreased by 0.1 percent. Prices on the domestic market increased by 0.9 percent. Domestic supply prices, that is, producer prices on the domestic market and import prices together, increased by 0.6 percent between October and November.

Changes during the last year

In November, the annual rate on the domestic market was higher than in the previous month. The annual rate in November was 0.5 percent.

The Producer Price Index annual rate in November was 1.2 percent (0.9 percent in October). On the export and import market, the annual rate was 1.8 percent. The annual rate of domestic supply prices was 1.2 percent.

Changes during the last month

Higher prices for district heating and electricity contributed to the increase on the domestic market. On the export market, lower prices for basic iron and steel and ferro-alloys and pulp contributed to the downturn. The main contributor to the increase on the import market was higher crude oil prices.

Changes in exchange rates

An appreciation or depreciation of the Swedish currency lowers or raises export and import prices in Swedish krona. According to Swedish Customs’ exchange rates, from October to November, the Swedish krona depreciated against the British pound by 2.6 percent and against the euro by 0.1 percent. The Swedish krona appreciated against the Norwegian krona by 2.8 percent and against the US dollar by 0.6 percent. The Swedish krona remained unchanged against the Danish krona.

In the last year, the Swedish krona depreciated against the US dollar by 6.7 percent, against the British pound by 6.0 percent, against the euro by 3.8 percent, and against the Danish krona by 3.6 percent. The Swedish krona appreciated against the Norwegian krona by 3.3 percent.
