The Producer Price Index decreased by 0.5 percent in May compared to April 2025. Prices decreased by 0.5 percent on the export market and decreased by 1.1 percent on the import market. On the domestic market, prices decreased by 0.4 percent. The annual rate according to the Producer Price Index was -2.8 percent in May (-2.4 percent in April).

Changes in the last month
The monthly rate of change was negative on the domestic, export and import markets in May. This resulted in a negative monthly rate of change for both Producer Price Index and Price Index for Domestic Supply during the same period.
The largest negative contribution on the domestic market came from lower prices on district heating. Prices also fell within waste collection, treatment and disposal- and materials recovery services, basic chemicals and refined petroleum products. This downturn was offset by higher prices on trade services of electricity and preserved meat and meat products.
On the export market the negative contribution came from lower prices on basic chemicals, refined petroleum products, other machinery and equipment, motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers, basic iron and steel as well as on waste collection, treatment and disposal- and materials recovery services. This downturn was somewhat offset by higher prices on sawn and planed wood.
The main contribution to the decrease on the import market came from lower prices on crude oil. Prices also fell within communication equipment, other transport equipment, basic chemicals, refined petroleum products, motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers and basic precious and other non-ferrous metals.

Changes in the last year
The annual rate for the domestic market was 1.2 percent in May (-0.1 percent in April). The annual rate for the export market was -6.7 percent during the same period (-4.6 percent in April). On the import market, the annual rate in May was -7.1 percent (-4.7 percent in April).
The annual rate of the Producer Price Index was -2.8 percent in May. Compared with May 2024, prices fell by 2.3 percent on energy-related products. Prices increased by 0.1 percent on consumer goods and decreased by 3.0 percent on capital goods. The annual rate of the Producer Price Index excluding energy-related products was -2.9 percent.
The annual rate of the Price Index for Domestic Supply was -3.4 percent in May. Compared with May 2024, prices fell by 10.0 percent on energy-related products. Prices increased by 0.5 percent on consumer goods and decreased by 1.9 percent on capital goods. The annual rate of the Price Index for Domestic Supply excluding energy-related products was -2.2 percent.
