Changes in the last month
The monthly rate of change was positive in the domestic and export markets, but negative in the import market in May. This resulted in a positive monthly rate of change for both Producer Price Index and Price Index for Domestic Supply during the same period.
The main upward contribution in the domestic market came from higher prices for trade services of electricity. Prices also rose for plastic products, chemicals and chemical products and materials recovery services, secondary raw materials. This upturn was partially offset by price decreases for district heating and refined petroleum products.
In the export market the main upward contribution came from higher prices for generation of electricity. Prices also rose for basic metals, chemicals and chemical procucts, other machinery and equipment, fabricated metal products, food products, plastic products, electrical equipment and motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers. This upturn was partially offset by price decreases for refined petroleum products.
The main contribution to the decrease in the import market came from lower prices for crude oil. Prices also fell for refined petroleum products, computers and peripheral equipment and other transport equipment. This downturn was partially offset by higher prices for chemicals and chemical products and basic metals.
