Changes during the last quarter

The quarterly rate of change was positive on the domestic and import markets, but negative on the export market in the first quarter of 2025. This resulted in a positive quarterly rate of change for both Services Producer Price Index and Price Index for Domestic Supply during the same period.

There were several different services which contributed with 0.1 percentage points each to the positive quarterly rate on the domestic market. These include computer programming, consultancy and related services, architectural and engineering services, technical testing and analysis services, land transport services and transport services via pipelines, legal and accounting services, management consulting services and rental and leasing services. This upturn was somewhat offset by price decreases on warehousing and support services for transportation.

On the export market the main negative contribution came from lower prices on warehousing and support services for transportation. Prices also fell within publishing services, sea and coastal freight water transport services and air transport services.

The main contribution to the increase on the import market came from higher prices on advertising services. Prices also rose in air transport services, warehousing and support services for transportation, architectural and engineering services, technical testing and analysis services and publishing services. This upturn was somewhat offset by price decreases on sea and coastal freight water transport services, telecommunications services and land transport services and transport services via pipelines.

Changes in the last year

The annual rate of change for the domestic market was positive in the first quarter of 2025, 2.5 percent, but slightly lower compared to the annual rate of 2.9 percent in the fourth quarter of 2024. The annual rate for the import market was positive as well, 1.9 percent, as was the annual rate for the export market, 0.4 percent, during the same period. (The annual rate of change was 3,0 percent in the fourth quarter of 2024 on the import market and 1,3 percent on the export market during the same period.)

This resulted in an annual rate of change of 2,2 percent for the Services Producer Price Index in the first quarter of 2025 and an annual rate of change of 2,4 percent for the Price Index for Domestic Supply during the same period.

Several sections contributed to the positive annual rate of change for the total Services Producer Price Index with 0,5 percentage points each. Those sections include professional, scientific and technical services, administrative and support services, real estate services as well as information and communication services. Hotel and restaurant services contributed upwards to the annual rate by 0.2 percentage points.

Changes in exchange rates

An appreciation or depreciation of the Swedish currency lowers or raises export and import prices in Swedish kronor. Prices at the producer and import stages are converted from foreign currencies to Swedish kronor according to the Riksbank’s exchange rates.

Changes within 55.1 and 68.2

As of the publication of the Services Producer Price Index (SPPI) for the first quarter of 2025, changes have been made within product groups 55.1 and 68.2. The breakdowns with letters at the end no longer exist. Product groups 55.1A, 55.1B, 55.1C, 68.2A, 68.2B, 68.2C, 68.2D and 68.2E will no longer be produced and published.
