Service prices in the domestic market increased in the first quarter of 2026

The Services Producer Price Index rose by 0.7 percent in the first quarter compared with the fourth quarter 2025. Prices increased by 0.9 percent in the domestic market and decreased by 0.6 percent in the export market. In the import market, prices were unchanged. The annual rate according to the Services Producer Price Index was 1.6 percent in the first quarter (1.4 percent in the fourth quarter).

Changes during the last quarter
The quarterly rate of change was positive in the domestic market and negative in the export market, but unchanged in the import market in the first quarter 2026. This resulted in a positive quarterly rate of change for both Services Producer Price Index and Price Index for Domestic Supply during the same period.
The main upward contribution in the domestic market came from higher prices for rental and operating services of own or leased real estate. Prices also rose for land transport services and management consulting services. Several other product groups also contributed to the upturn in the domestic market.
In the export market the main negative contribution came from lower prices for computer programming, consultancy and related services. Prices also fell for sea and coastal freight water transport services, warehousing and support services for transportation and rental and leasing services. This downturn was offset by higher prices for publishing services as well as advertising and market research services.
The main positive contribution on the import market came from higher prices on advertising and market research services. Prices also rose in sea and coastal freight water transport services, warehousing and support services for transportation, telecommunications services and data processing, hosting and related services. This upturn was offset by price decreases on computer programming, consultancy and related services, land transport services, publishing services, management consulting services and rental and leasing services.

Changes in the last year
The annual rate in the domestic market was 2.6 percent in the first quarter 2026 (2.6 percent in the fourth quarter). The annual rate in the export market was -4.1 percent during the same period (-4.7 percent in the fourth quarter). In the import market, the annual rate in the first quarter was -2.7 percent (-2.5 percent in the fourth quarter).
This resulted in an annual rate of change of 1.6 percent for the Services Producer Price Index in the first quarter of 2026 and an annual rate of change of 2.0 percent for the Price Index for Domestic Supply during the same period.
Several sections contributed to the positive annual rate of change for the total Services Producer Price Index. Transport and storage services contributed with 0.6 percentage points while professional, scientific and technical services contributed with 0.4 percentage points. Real estate services and administrative and support services contributed upwards with 0.3 percentage points each. Hotel and restaurant services contributed upwards to the annual rate by 0.2 percentage points.
Information and communication services had a negative contribution to the annual rate by 0.3 percentage points.

Changes in exchange rates
An appreciation or depreciation of the Swedish currency lowers or raises export and import prices in Swedish kronor. Prices at the producer and import stages are converted from foreign currencies to Swedish kronor according to the Riksbank’s exchange rates.

The Export Price Index (EXPI) measures changes in Swedish producers’ prices of products sold outside of Sweden, both within and outside the EU.
The Import Price Index (IMPI) measures changes in the prices of imports of products into Sweden.
The Services Producer Price Index (SPPI) measures changes in the prices of Swedish producers’ total sales, obtained by combining the HMPI and the EXPI.
The Price Index for Domestic Supply (ITPI) measures changes in the prices of products sold in Sweden, obtained by combining the HMPI and the IMPI.
