Household consumption decreased by 0.7 percent in January 2024, measured in seasonally adjusted figures, compared with December 2023. Compared with January 2023, household consumption decreased by 0.7 percent, measured in constant prices and working day adjusted figures. In the last three-month period, consumption remained unchanged compared with the same period a year ago, measured in constant prices and working day adjusted figures.

The largest weighted negative contribution came from the sector Transport and retail sales and service of motor vehicles which decreased by 3.0 percent in constant prices compared with January a year ago.

Housing, electricity, gas and heating accounted for the largest weighted positive contribution to total consumption and increased by 3.0 percent in constant prices compared with January a year ago.

When the reference month January 2024 is published, the base year is changed to 2021. This means that the average of the monthly indices in 2021 is 100 (index 2021=100).
