Swedish employers recruiting from outside the EU

Report on Employers Hiring Labor Migrants from Non-EU Countries – Third in the “Work in Sweden” Series

This is the third report in a series produced by Statistics Sweden (SCB) as part of the government assignment Work in Sweden. The report focuses on the types of employers who have hired labour migrants from countries outside the EU/EEA – commonly referred to as third countries. The statistics aim to support decision-making for other government agencies involved in the assignment, as well as other stakeholders.

Key insights from the report include:

  • Types of workplaces hiring labour migrants: Analysis based on sector, industry, company size, employee skill level, and geographic location.
  • Who hires whom?: A description of how the national background of the operational business leader and board members may influence the hiring of international labour.
  • Differences in labour migration based on company characteristics: Including company age, export share, and employment growth.
  • Previous experience with labour migration: The report also examines the proportion of workplaces that have previously hired labour migrants.
