Aquaculture

Since 1983 Statistics Sweden has been conducting an annual survey about aquaculture in Sweden. The survey is conducted on behalf of the Swedish Board of Agriculture and refers to the conditions the previous year. The questionnaire is directed to all persons and enterprises that have been granted permission to conduct farming in the area of aquaculture.

Who is to submit data?

  • Business owners engaged in the cultivation of edible fish, crustaceans and molluscs (mussels and oysters) or algae
  • Business owners engaged in the cultivation of fish for stocking or crayfish for stocking
  • Business owners engaged in cultivation of eggs and/or fry.

Cultivation refers to farming under controlled forms, usually combined with feeding.

Time plan

A letter with information about user ID and password will be sent out in February.

Your response

All submitted information on private enterprises is confidential. The information you submit is protected according to Chapter 24 Section 8 of the Public Access to Information and Secrecy Act (2009:400).

You decide yourself if you want to participate, but it is important that everyone takes part so the results of the survey will be accurate. When the information is published, no single enterprise can be identified.

Consultation has taken place with the Board of Swedish Industry and Commerce for Better Regulation (NNR). The collected information may be used for other statistics and research.
