    This year’s autumn-sowing of cereals and oilseed crops amounted to 644 000 hectares. It is 13 percent larger than 2023 and 5 percent larger than the average in the past five years. One of the reasons for the increase is that the weather during the autumn has been more favorable för autumn-sowing this year compared to last year.

  • Autumn-sown areas of cereals and oilseed crops are 13 percent less than 2022

    This year’s autumn-sowing of cereals and oilseed crops amounted to 571 100 hectares. It is 13 percent less than 2022 and 7 percent less than the average in the past five years. One of the reasons for the reduction is that many farmers have not been able to autumn-sow as planned in parts of the country due to wet fields after this autumn´s heavy rainfall.

  • Autumn sown areas on record level again

    This year’s autumn sowing of cereals and oilseed crops amounted to 652 800 hectares. It is 13 percent more than average in the past five years and on the same record level as in the autumn 2020. Dry conditions during autumn hampered establishment of autumn sown oilseed crops, why some areas were resown with other autumn sown crops. Winter wheat accounted for more than 70 percent of this year’s total autumn sown acreage.

  • Large autumn sown acreage despite rainy autumn

    This year’s autumn sowing of cereals and oilseed crops amounted to 605 400 hectares. This verges on last autumn’s record acreage and is 6 percent more than the average in the past five years. Despite this, many farmers were not able to autumn sow the full planned areas, as the fields have been too wet to support the machinery. Winter wheat accounted for almost 70 percent of this year’s total autumn sown acreage.
