  • New formally protected forest land amounted to 29 200 hectares

    In 2022, formally protected forest land increased by 29 200 hectares, 22 000 hectares of which is productive forest land. Voluntary set-asides have an estimated increase of 52 600 hectares since 2021.

  • New formally protected forest land amounted to 22 000 hectares

    In 2021, formally protected forest land increased by 21 600 hectares, 16 400 hectares of which is productive forest land. This corresponds to almost 0.1 percent of all forest land in Sweden. Voluntary set-asides have remained relatively unchanged since 2020.

  • New formally protected forest land amounted to 14 000 hectares

    In 2020, formally protected forest land increased by almost 14 000 hectares, 11 700 hectares of which is productive forest land. This corresponds to 0.1 percent of all forest land in Sweden. Voluntary set-asides increased by 4 300 hectares, which corresponds to 0.02 percent of Sweden’s forest land area. The area of consideration patches is estimated to have increased by almost 25 900 hectares, which corresponds to 0.1 percent of the total area of forest land.

  • Slight increase in formally protected forest land and voluntary set-asides

    Almost 22 000 hectares have been added to the formally protected forest land in 2019. This corresponds to 0.1 percent of all forest land in Sweden. Voluntary set-asides increased by almost 45 000 hectares, which corresponds to 0.2 percent of all forest land in Sweden.

  • New coherent statistics of forest land

    For the first time, coherent statistics are presented on different aspects of forest land in Sweden. The statistics are divided into four types - formally protected forest land, voluntary set-asides, consideration patches and unproductive forest land.
