Structural business statistics

Official statistics of Sweden

Upcoming publishing: 2026-05-13

The purpose of Structural Business Statistics is to illuminate the structure of the business sector (excluding the financial and public sectors as well as households’ non-profit organisations) with regard to primarily profitability, growth, development, financing and production. The area of use is to provide answers to macro-economic questions, with regard to levels as well as over time.

As of reference year 2024, preliminary results for Enterprise units according to EU Regulation (2019/2152) are published 10 months after the end of the reference year. Furthermore, results for kind-of-activity unit are published 14 months after the end of the reference year. The tables have been remodelled to bind the quarterly and annual statistics closer together. The number of measures has been extended, and key figures have been added. All measures are published in current prices. In the published data 17 months after the end of the reference year all values will be revised, and some measures will be published in fixed prices.

From reference year 2022 and onwards, new statistical units will be used in the SBS. Focus is on Enterprise unit, kind-of-activity unit and local kind-of-activity units. Enterprise units are created through profiling, who are based on the Swedish part of an enterprise group, which in turn gives a larger difference between published values (enterprise unit compared with kind-of-activity unit).
