Capacity utilisation in industry increased

Capacity utilisation in industry increased by 1.6 percentage points in the second quarter of 2021 compared with the first quarter of 2021 in seasonally adjusted figures.
The increase in capacity utilisation in industry in the second quarter led to an increase in the level of utilisation, which amounted to 91.3 percent in seasonally adjusted figures. This is the first time since the third quarter of 2019 that capacity utilisation in industry has an utilisation rate of more than 90 percent.
On an annual basis, capacity utilisation increased by 8.9 percentage points compared with the second quarter of 2020 and was 91.5 percent in calendar adjusted figures.
The figures for the second quarter of 2021 are preliminary. Since the previous publication, the change in capacity utilisation in the first quarter of 2021 compared with the fourth quarter of 2020 has been revised upwards by 0.4 percentage points, to a utilisation rate of 89.7 percent in seasonally adjusted figures.
The change in capacity utilisation in the first quarter of 2021 compared with the corresponding quarter a year ago increased by 0.1 percentage point to a utilisation rate of 89.6 percent in calendar adjusted figures.

When capacity utilisation for a new quarter is published, the percentages for the previous quarter are also revised. Normally, the figures for the previous quarter are revised mainly due to new and revised information.
