Four enterprises out of ten buy cloud computing services and half as many use them free of charge. Enterprises in the information- and communication industry use more cloud computing services, both paid for as well as free of charge, than others.

Even though enterprises in some industries buy cloud computing services more frequent than others, the consumption patterns are similar between industries as well as size classes.

The most common cloud computing services are file storage and email in all industries and size classes.

Uncertainty about applicable law

As limiting factors, the reasons given by large enterprises especially were: uncertainty about the location of the data; and uncertainty about applicable law, jurisdiction and dispute resolution.

The most common reason not to buy cloud computing services was insufficient knowledge.
