Local and regional energy statistics 2014:

Varberg and Östhammar produce most electricity

Statistical news from Statistics Sweden and Swedish Energy Agency 2016-02-26 9.30

Varberg and Östhammar produced the most electricity of all municipalities in Sweden while Stockholm produced the most district heating. Gothenburg was the municipality that used the most energy during 2014, followed by Stockholm and Luleå.

These are the findings according to the latest municipal and regional energy statistics. These statistics are produced by Statistics Sweden on behalf of the Swedish Energy Agency. The statistics are intended to serve as a basis for targets and follow-up of work on energy, climate and environmental goals.

The statistics also show that electricity production from wind power is increasing in Sweden every year; in 2014 it increased by 14 percent. We also see that renewable fuels in industry are increasing year by year and there is a trend that non-renewable fuels in the transport sector are decreasing. There is information at the national level. To see if the trend is the same at the municipal or regional, please see Statistics Sweden’s statistical database.
