Sweden’s GDP increased 0.6 percent in first quarter of 2019

Sweden’s GDP increased by 0.6 percent in the first quarter of 2019, seasonally adjusted, compared with the fourth quarter of 2018. GDP increased by 2.1 percent, working-day adjusted and compared with the first quarter of 2018.
Household consumption expenditure decreased by 0.2 percent, while government consumption expenditure rose by 0.1 percent, seasonally adjusted and compared with the previous quarter. Changes in inventories provided no significant contribution to GDP growth in the first quarter. Gross fixed capital formation decreased by 0.4 percent. Exports grew by 0.8 percent and imports decreased by 0.7 percent. Market production of goods and services increased by 1.0 percent, seasonally adjusted. The production of goods rose by 1.2 percent and service-producing industries rose by 0.9 percent. Employment measured as the total number of hours worked decreased by 0.2 percent, seasonally adjusted, and the total number of persons employed was essentially the same as in the previous quarter.
