Sweden’s GDP increased 1.2 percent in fourth quarter of 2018

Sweden’s GDP increased by 1.2 percent in the fourth quarter of 2018, seasonally adjusted, compared with the third quarter of 2018. GDP increased by 2.4 percent, working-day adjusted and compared with the fourth quarter of 2017. GDP in 2018 grew by 2.3 percent compared with 2017.

Household consumption expenditures increased by 0.7 percent and government consumption expenditures rose by 0.6, seasonally adjusted and compared with the previous quarter. Changes in inventories contributed to GDP growth by 0.3 percentage points in the fourth quarter. Gross fixed capital formation decreased by 1.6 percent. Exports grew by 3.1 percent and imports rose by 1.4 percent. Market production of goods and services increased by 1.4 percent, seasonally adjusted. Production of goods rose by 1.5 percent and service-producing industries rose by 1.3 percent. Employment measured as the total number of hours worked increased by 1.6 percent, seasonally adjusted, and the total number of persons employed rose by 0.8 percent, seasonally adjusted.
