Inflation rate according to CPIF 2.0 percent

The inflation rate according to the CPI with a fixed interest rate (CPIF) was 2.0 percent in April 2019, up from 1.8 percent in March 2019. The CPIF increased by 0.6 percent from March to April. In the corresponding period last year, the CPIF rose by 0.4 percent. The inflation rate according to the CPI was 2.1 percent in April 2019.

The increase in the CPI from March to April 2019 was mainly due to international flights (47.1 percent), which contributed upwards by 0.3 percentage point. Books (22.4 percent), package holidays (8.7 percent), fuel (5.5 percent), clothing (1.5 percent) and use of own homes (0.8 percent), all contributed upwards by 0.1 percentage point each.

These increases were offset by lower prices on other recreational items and equipment (-1.8 percent) and electricity (-1.6 percent), which both contributed downwards by 0.1 percentage point each.

The CPI for April 2019 was 334.11 (1980=100).

The inflation rate according to the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) was 2.1 percent in April 2019, up from 1.8 percent in March. The HICP increased by 0.7 percent from March to April. In the corresponding period last year, the HICP increased by 0.4 percent.
