Inflation rate according to CPIF was 1.7 percent in June

The inflation rate according to the CPI with a fixed interest rate (CPIF) was 1.7 percent in June 2019, down from 2.1 percent in May. The CPIF decreased by 0.1 percent from May to June. In the corresponding period last year, the CPIF rose by 0.3 percent. The inflation rate according to the CPI was 1.8 percent in June 2019.

The decrease in the CPI from May to June 2019 was mainly due to lower prices on clothing (-5.6 percent) and electricity (-4.6 percent), which contributed downwards by 0.3 and 0.2 percentage points each. Falling prices on bulk potatoes (-41.9 percent) and fuel (-5.1 percent) contributed downwards by 0.1 percentage point each.

These decreases were offset by higher prices on package holidays (25.0 percent) and international flights (16.2 percent), which contributed upwards by 0.3 percentage points and 0.1 percentage point respectively.

The CPI for June 2019 was 334.47 (1980=100).

The inflation rate according to the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) was 1.6 percent, down from 2.1 percent in May. The HICP decreased by 0.2 percent from May to June. In the corresponding period last year, the HICP increased by 0.2 percent.
