Service prices continue to rise

The Service Producer Price Index increased by 0.2 percent from the third quarter of 2018 to the fourth quarter of 2018. The corresponding figure in the third quarter was an increase of 0.7 percent. Since the fourth quarter of 2017, the Service Producer Price Index has increased by 1.7 percent. The corresponding increase in the previous quarter was 1.5 percent.
Changes during the quarter
The main upward contributor in the quarter was higher prices on land transport services and transport services via pipelines. Furthermore, higher prices on rental and operating services of own or leased real estate, as well as computer programing, consultancy and related services, contributed to the upturn. Higher prices on rental and leasing services of other machinery, equipment and tangible goods also contributed to the upturn this quarter.

Definitions and explanations
New product classification
The Services Producer Index is reported in accordance with both SPIN 2007 and SPIN 2015 in the statistical database. Both product classifications will be available during 2018. In 2019, price indices will only be available in accordance with SPIN 2015. Users are recommended to start using SPIN 2015. The differences between the two classifications are minor.
