Service prices keep rising

The Service Producer Price Index increased by 0.4 percent from the first quarter of 2018 to the second quarter of 2018. The corresponding figure in the first quarter was also 0.4 percent. Since the second quarter of 2017, the Service Producer Price Index has increased by 0.7 percent. The corresponding annual rate in the previous quarter was 0.8 percent.
Changes during the last quarter
The main upward contributor in the quarter was higher prices for accommodation services. Furthermore, sea and coastal freight water transport services, other transportation support services, land transport services, accounting, bookkeeping, auditing and tax consulting services contributed upwards. These service groups contributed 0.1 percentage point each. The quarterly rise was offset by a decline in prices for travel agency and tour operator services, which contributed 0.3 percentage points downward.

Definitions and explanations
New product classification
The Service Producer Index is reported in accordance with both SPIN 2007 and SPIN 2015 in the statistical database. Both product classifications will be available during 2018. In 2019, price indices will only be available in accordance with SPIN 2015. Users are recommended to start using SPIN 2015. The differences between the two classifications are minor.
