Open geodata

Statistics Sweden’s open geodata can be found in the Geodata Portal which is managed by Lantmäteriet (the Swedish Mapping, Cadastral and Land Registration Authority). Services are available here that enable users to search for, view and download data.

Statistics Sweden’s open geodata can be categorised into three types. The first is data under the responsibility of Statistics Sweden pursuant to the Geographic Environmental Information Ordinance (SFS 2010:1770). It concerns open geodata pertaining to grid statistics adapted to the European reference system ETRS89, preschools and agency and municipal offices published as part of the EU INSPIRE Directive. You can read more about the Directive here.

Harmonised data that follows the INSPIRE Directive can be downloaded from the Geodata Portal. Under the requirements of the Directive, content and available format may differ from that of other open geodata. Statistics Sweden has therefore decided to publish INSPIRE data in additional formats with simpler sets of variables on the website.

The second type is Statistics Sweden’s delimitations of built-up areas, and the third is the nation-wide breakdowns DeSO and RegSO.
