Adjusted for price changes, the increase of sales amounted to 3.6 percent. This means that sales in current prices increased due to higher sales volumes but also due to higher prices. Sales of food and beverages per capita increased by 6.7 percent compared with 2024, an increase of SEK 2,631 per year. The total sales per person and year landed at SEK 42,027 in 2025.
Reduced sales volume for coffee and chocolate

The sweet tooth Swedes also increased their purchases of chocolate by 11.5 percent and sales reached SEK 9.1 billion in 2025. After adjusting for inflation and higher prices, both coffee and chocolates show a reduced sales volume compared with 2024. The cause for this is higher prices due to production losses due to drought and crop failures in the countries producing coffee and cocoa.

The increase for vegetables, root vegetables and legumes is 4.2 percent in current prices and 6.7 percent in fixed prices. The product group with the highest increase was fruits and nuts where both sales and volumes increased almost equally.
