Peat 2014 – Production, use and environmental impact:

Peat use in energy production has decreased five years in a row

Statistical news from Statistics Sweden and Swedish Energy Agency 2015-06-17 9.30

During the last five years peat use as fuel for electricity and heat production has decreased with 60 percent. Electricity and heat industries are the main users of peat for energy purposes. One reason for the reduction of peat use is because peat use demands emission rights, making it harder to compete with other fuels.
