Household consumption increased week 17-20 2026

Household consumption increased by 0.4 percent week 17-20 compared with week 13-16. Compared with the same period last year, household consumption week 17-20 increased by 3.2 percent. Both figures are measured in constant prices and are calendar and seasonally adjusted.

From the next publication onwards, SCB will link together the monthly and the weekly indicator of household consumption . The new method is mainly build on VAT data and card data and enables SCB to produce an early estimate for the monthly indicator. Both, the monthly and the weekly indicator will be published on the product page for household consumption. In connection with the methodological changes, SCB will also publish a daily indicator. All statistics will be published in million Swedish Crowns, both by COICOP and by durability. The starting year for the new series is 2019. The statistics will be published in the statistical database under Household finances/ Household consumption. The excelfile currently published under the heading Tables and graphs will not be updated anymore.

Definitions and explanations

The weekly indicator of household consumption gives an early picture on the development of household consumption. The indicator is currently produced bi-weekly and is based on more limited and preliminary data than the monthly and quarterly statistics on household consumption. The weekly indicator is classified as statistics under development and is not part of the official statistics.
